Travelers at Phoenix Sky Harbor were well prepared for the start of REAL ID requirements at airports throughout the country.
At Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, travelers experienced a smooth and efficient holiday travel period, with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screening over 120,000 passengers from December 20 to December 26, 2023, marking a 6% increase from the previous year. The airport managed to keep security wait times under 15 minutes, thanks to the dedication of TSA officers working extended hours. Additionally, the airport's operations were supported by the Phoenix Fire Department's canine unit, which helped in detecting explosives, ensuring safety. The airport also saw a significant number of passengers using the PHX Reserve program, which allows travelers to reserve a spot in the security line, further streamlining the process. This efficient handling contributed to a stress-free travel experience during the busy holiday season.
