Charles D. King, the first Black partner at WME, left the agency to establish Macro, a multi-media company focused on amplifying underrepresented voices in entertainment. Since its inception in 2015, Macro has produced acclaimed films like "Fences," "Sorry to Bother You," and "Judas and the Black Messiah," the latter earning King an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Additionally, Macro has ventured into television with shows such as "Raising Dion" and "Blitz Bazawule's The Burial of Kojo," and has expanded into digital content and branded entertainment. King's efforts have not only diversified the narratives in media but have also created significant economic opportunities for people of color both in front of and behind the camera, solidifying his role as a transformative figure in the industry.
