Travel during the Memorial Day weekend is expected to surpass pre-COVID levels, with AAA predicting that 42.3 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home, marking a 7% increase from 2022 and slightly above 2019 numbers. This surge is attributed to a strong desire for travel among Americans, with road trips being the preferred mode of transportation, expected to see 37.1 million travelers, up 6% from last year. Air travel is also set to increase significantly, with 3.4 million people projected to fly, a 17% rise from 2022 and 5.4% more than in 2019. Other modes of transportation like buses and trains are expected to see 1.85 million users, up 20.6% from last year. Despite higher travel costs, the enthusiasm for travel remains high, with many planning trips to domestic and international destinations.
