50 years of fitness: Esquimalt Recreation Centre celebrates milestone

Over the years, it has undergone several renovations, including a significant $10 million upgrade in 2010 which added new facilities like a pool, gym, and fitness studio. The celebration includes various events like a family fun swim, a skate party, and a special 50th anniversary open house. The centre not only serves as a hub for physical fitness but also plays a crucial role in community building, with staff and long-time members sharing fond memories and stories of its impact on their lives.
