Hawaii health officials report new-travel related dengue virus case

Hawaii health officials have reported a new case of the dengue virus in a Hawaii resident who had recently traveled to French Polynesia, marking the second travel-related case in the state this year. The individual, from Oahu, was not hospitalized and is recovering. The Hawaii Department of Health emphasizes that dengue is not endemic to Hawaii and is typically brought in by travelers, urging residents to take precautions against mosquito bites, especially when traveling to areas where dengue is common. There have been no locally acquired cases of dengue reported in Hawaii this year.
