West University appoints James Novak as new fire chief

James Novak has been appointed as the new fire chief of West University Place, effective January 1, 2024. Novak, who has served as the assistant fire chief since 2019, will succeed Fire Chief Ed Milner, who is retiring after 25 years with the department. Novak's career with the West University Place Fire Department began in 1999, and he has held various roles including firefighter, driver, and captain. His appointment was announced by City Manager Scott Bounds, who praised Novak's dedication and leadership. Novak expressed his commitment to continuing the department's tradition of excellence and community service.
