Quarterback competition is underway at ACU

The quarterback competition at Abilene Christian University (ACU) is heating up as the team prepares for the upcoming season. Head coach Keith Patterson has not yet named a starting quarterback, with three players—Maverick McIvor, Zach Calzada, and Quayde Hawkins—vying for the position. McIvor, a redshirt freshman, has shown promise with his athleticism and ability to make plays, while Calzada, a transfer from Texas A&M, brings experience and a strong arm to the competition. Hawkins, a redshirt sophomore, is also in the mix, having shown improvement and potential during spring practices. The competition is expected to continue into the fall, with the starting quarterback likely to be determined during preseason camp.
