  • This Earth Day, Laurentian University will buzz with excitement as local high school students help launch the "Air Bee and Bee" project, a unique environmental initiative aimed at protecting native pollinators and enhancing biodiversity on campus.

The "Air Bee and Bee" project, launched at Laurentian University in Sudbury, aims to address the decline in bee populations by installing beehives on the university's campus. This initiative, a collaboration between Laurentian University, the City of Greater Sudbury, and the Greater Sudbury Public Library, seeks to raise awareness about the importance of bees for pollination and biodiversity. The project includes educational components, such as workshops and public engagement activities, to teach the community about beekeeping and the role of bees in our ecosystem. The beehives, placed in a designated area on campus, will not only help in the conservation of bees but also contribute to research on urban beekeeping and its impact on local agriculture.
