After years of delays and $74.1 million in renovations, a new high school in Syracuse will offer concentrations including media technology, robotics automation, data analytics and semiconductor microchip technology.

The Syracuse City School District has opened applications for its new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) high school, set to open in the fall of 2023. This innovative school will be housed in the former Central Tech building and aims to provide a specialized education focusing on STEAM disciplines. The curriculum will integrate project-based learning, real-world problem solving, and collaboration with local businesses and higher education institutions. The school targets students interested in pursuing careers in technology, engineering, and the arts, offering them advanced coursework, internships, and mentorship opportunities. Applications are open to all students in the district, with a particular emphasis on attracting those who show a keen interest or aptitude in STEAM fields.
